The visceral nervous system (or autonomic) controls parts of the physiology that are involuntary such as thermoregulation, sweating, breathing, etc… without the help of the voluntary nervous system.
It is divided into two antagonistic nervous systems: the parasympathetic nervous system and the sympathetic nervous system.
If one of these system (for instance the sympathetic) takes control over the other, a disorder such as hyperhidrosis will result from it.
Perspiration is a perfectly normal physiological phenomena. Only excessive sweating can be diagnosed as hyperhidrosis.
Perspiration is produced by two types of sweat glands (or sudoriferous glands): the eccrine glands (activated by the parasympathetic system) and the apocrine glands ( activated by the sympathetic system)
