The arteries will then deliver the oxygenated blood to every organ and muscles.
The aorta is the main artery that stems from the heart
The aorta has collaterals such as : the digestive arteries, renal arteries…
Around the abdomen, the aorta splits into the 2 common iliac arteries (bifurcation), right and left, one for each leg.
These iliac arteries will continue as femoral arteries around the thigh and groin, then the popliteal arteries around the knees.
